Blog Blues in Thornesworld
| August 31, 2010 | 3:09 pm

So it seems that there is something drastically wrong with my blog. I’m so sorry to anyone who happens by and finds all my links broken, including the contact page and comments forms. Just when I felt like writing a bit and have some exciting new art creations to share with you all. Boooo!
Stop by my etsy store and see what’s cookin’ while I try to get this blog fixed! Mwaaaah!

Message In A Bottle

Heeeeelp!

Why is it that the more one needs to do the less time there is to do it? Well, there is a middle ground, I’ve found. Sometimes for me it is actually better to have a reasonably full To-Do list. Especially if deadlines are imperative. When my life is like that, I seem to get a lot more done. When there are only a few things on my list it’s just too easy to put them off.

Right now, however, I am not in that comfy middle zone, nor am I in that somewhat laissez-faire mode of too little that must be done…

Right now, Pair-O-Dykes Ranch is teeming with the activity of two busy wimminz! The good news is that we’re finding time for play and a bit of leisure, the bad news is that I’m afraid blogging and visiting is a bit far down on the priority list. So please forgive my absence, my lovely bloggy friends and constant readers!

Here’s a brief of what’s happening in Thorne’s World:

  • The GirlyBoi has made a successful bid on a nice little job and is in the process of building a pump house from the foundation-up. For those of you who are city dwellers, a pump house is a structure that encloses the pressure tank, well head, pump and electrical works necessary to those of us who depend on (yummy, clean, awesome) well water.
  • I am working on an illustration for the cover of enigma’s upcoming book based on the blog of the same name, Watergate Summer.
  • I am still writing daily microposts over at Simply Green/Blog on Smog, and I also write for the Green Living Monthly eZine.
  • I haven’t forgotten about my witches’ bottles or my lil altars- they are also still under construction, and I’m making simply luscious magickal bath salts that you peeps are gonna LOVE!!
  • We are both continuing our work in the stained glass studio, (UPS came today with some few small supplies we needed) and of course, taking care of my Mom, our 6 rescued parrots, 5 dogs, 2 cats and this old house that seems in constant need of repair.
  • Between times we manage to find time for some social interaction (had a blast last weekend at a good friend’s birthday party. Good conversation, good food, belly dancing and a Lakota Pipe Ceremony- and yes, I’ll blog it eventually), a little WoW gaming, an occasional DVD to watch and last (but never least) love.

Upcoming projects include (but are not limited to):

  • Listing our hand crafted stained glass and vintage items on our new Etsy Store.
  • Installing new toilets in both our home and Mom’s (time for a change to water efficient toilets- these that we have now are dinosaurs! We have bricks in the tanks to displace some of the guzzle- always thinkin’ green in Thornesworld!)
  • Labyrinth stone gathering and placing
  • A new and traditionally constructed Sweat Lodge with the help of our new friend, Jim.
  • A stained glass window for our bedroom; aka The Lesbian Love Nest and Gypsy Boudoir.
  • Painting the bedroom (now that the texture is all done. (I’ll be posting about that soon).

Now, back to the message in a bottle. I stumbled on this fun lil meme over at Duward Discussion. It originates with our favorite peace blogger and pencil skirt queen, Mimi (of blogblast for peace- I really need to find my peace globe graphic from the last 2 years and get them on my sidebar- they got lost in the move.) The idea is to copy the blank image below, add your own message, then send it out into the blogosphere via letting Mimi know so she can post a link to your bottle at the Message in a Bottle blog. (That’s my synopsis of Mimi’s meme. You’ll have to head over to her place to get the full low-down. I’m not into the copy n paste, tonight).

So here’s the blank:

Have a little fun and let me know where I can fish your bottle out of the bloggy seas to read your message.

Peace, out!

Thorne’s World in Bullets

Stole this bullets idea from Robin at Around the Island.

hand made stained glass pewter fairy

  • My GirlyBoi has been out of work since the first part of June and her dream of driving truck cross country with her sister isn’t going to happen for a variety of reasons.
  • We haven’t completely given up on her getting her CDL, but it’s looking pretty grim in the job market.
  • I have a new (very) part time job as my (disabled) Mom’s Care provider. A lil shopping, housecleaning and running her to her appointments. It’s cool to make a lil $$ doing what I would do for her anyway.
  • I am adding a bit of paid content to Thorne’s World. I’ve done 2 posts so far, and I hope with all my heart that they have been reasonably integrated into my usual types of posts. Broke or not, I don’t want to “sell out” Thorne’s World. (Please tell me if I sound trite, okay?)
  • If you see and read a bit less of me these days, it’s due to the necessity to work a bit more. Hahaha! I have some, I think, pretty cool art and magick items in the creations stages and will be offering them for sale as well as holding some giveaways.
  • A few of the items I’m working on are:
    1. Magickal and aromatherapy bath salts
    2. Prosperity Bottles
    3. Small Magickal Talismans and wearable witches’ bottles.
  • Some of the things I’d like to begin soon:
    1. Small stained Glass and pewter sculptures like this fairy
    2. stained glass night lights
    3. glass mosaic candle holders
  • I do have some bits of fun DIY coming up for you. I’m taking pics as I go finishing my bedroom (finally). The drywall is taped and textured, and I’m experimenting in making my own recipe for a latex glaze for some ass kicking faux painting… you’ll see. I don’t know what I’m going to come up with for window trim. The stuff we removed (2 years ago) was splintered and rotten. Maybe when I post the paint photos, you’ll all have some ideas for me? Of course, low cost isn’t really an option- it’ll have to be next to free. Bwahahaha!
  • Doesn’t it just suck that when you have the time to do something, you never have the money?
  • Picked our first tomato
  • That’s pretty much it. Peace, out!

    PS
Tonight I’m eating my GirlyBoi’s fried chicken and smashed potatoes because it’s the best comfort food I know. And she’s making brownies right now!
