Show Your Love
| February 14, 2009 | 2:13 am

It’s officially Valentine’s day.  I have to work today, so I won’t be posting, but as I was blog hopping a bit before sleep tonight, I came across a post at Byrning Bunny, which led me to Blog This Mom.

I was greeted by an image of an adorable, smiling family and went on the read the post, wondering what on earth the problem could be for these cuties.  I had to scroll back up and look at the image again.

You see… for me, seeing 2 dads or 2 moms is so normal, so… natural, that I didn’t even notice.  That the pic was of 2 dads with their adorable children.  All I saw was a happy family.

Hop on over and check them out.  Because if Kenneth Starr has his way, the smiling Dads in the image will soon be divorced. They, along with around 18,000 other same sex couple in California.   Not because they can’t live with each other any more, or because they’ve grown apart… not because they’ve fallen out of love or have irreconcilable differences; no.  Simply because some folks don’t think they should be married.

I think that sucks, don’t you?

If you think it sucks too, please go to Courage Campaign and add your virtual signature to the 235,819 others who have already signed the letter/petition there.
It’s not a ballot initiative; you don’t need to be a registered voter or a resident of California.
All you need is love. Just a little love and the belief that people shouldn’t be divorced against their will.
Watch the video. Sign the petition. Please.

California
Supreme Court to Hear Oral Arguments
in Prop 8 Legal Challenge on March 5

The California Supreme Court must issue its decisions within 90 days of oral argument.
On January 15, 2009, 43 friend-of-the-court briefs urging the Court to invalidate Prop 8 were filed, arguing that Proposition 8 drastically alters the equal protection guarantee in California’s Constitution and that the rights of a minority cannot be eliminated by a simple majority vote. The supporters represent the full gamut of California’s and the nation’s civil rights organizations and legal scholars, as well as California legislators, local governments, bar associations, business interests, labor unions, and religious groups.
