Day one got off to a bit of a slow start. The kids, finally packed and loaded, left for LV just before midnight. I ran back in the house, determined not to cry but no worries; I was numb with exhaustion. I booted my Mac and checked the time just as the clock rolled over to midnight, then my cel rang. My e. We procrastinated happily together for awhile, trying to get the ins and outs of Scrivener working the same for both of us. I think we actually decided to get down to writing by about 1:45.
By 4:45, 915 painful grasping words later I was wiped. ![]()
The words were just as recalcitrant today until I took a nap, but I woke up feeling pretty good and got back to work.
About an hour ago I posted my new wordcount to the NaNoWriMo site.
In the meantime I came across a great thread on the NaNo site for making offerings to the Dark Gods of Writing. Here’s mine:
Grant me the strength to keep writing, even when my inner editor is telling me my prose is crap,
the courage to face the blank page at the beginning of each scene,
and the wisdom to stop writing run-on sentences.
In return I offer
This poor ripoff of The Serenity Prayer.
All the misspellings and typos in all of the petitions in this thread.
Every second comma (I have to keep a few).
The mad dash to level 80 that my guildies are making in an attempt to make WoW history on our server.
Your abject slave,
Thorne
PS
If you need a soul; take mine. I gave it up to my art long ago.
If you want blood, I’m sure that can be arranged. I could probably even cut off my little finger at the first joint if you insist.
Yay, me! 3,460 words! A full 126 words above my daily quota. I’m gonna take a bit of a break now, putter around a few blogs for a few, watch a lil TV then see if I can’t pound out a few more words before the night is over.
