Blogroll Amnesty Day

Blogroll Amnesty Day

I’m not gonna re-post the video, if you wish you may view it here.  The idea, although it has a somewhat jaded history (Read all about it here:  at this generous linkylove blogger, Jon Swift), is a good one. (Late breaking thornesd’oh!  BAD also promoted by Skippy the bush Kangaroo!)

I’m not really sure how to really check traffic to be sure I’m posting links to blogs with less traffic than mine, so I’m going to leave a lil linky love for some great blogs that I think are small enough to qualify for a lil hand up, and that are simply great reading!

I’ll start with Steve at BlogOnSmog.  He recently responded to a comment I left over there saying he had been thinking about giving up this awesome blog.  I hope a few hits and a few comments from some of my lovely readers will help encourage him.  Unlike a lot of “environmental” blogs, Steve doesn’t come off preachy or holier-than-thou.  I really like the way he presents info and simply asks that his readers give it some thought.  And he has a sense of humor.  I like that!

I just came upon Mo’s (evidently) secret blog, Our Slice of Paradise.  I wondered where she was hiding when she wasn’t up at Mo’s Mind.  Now we know.  Good words and images going up over there.  Stop by and say “Hi”!

I’ve recently discovered Jehara, (although to my shame I haven’t commented there yet). She hooked me with a great Thursday Thirteen: Thirteen Things about the Heart Chakra.  Check her out!

I simply must send you once again over to both The Pagan Sphinx and The Pagan’s Eye. (The Pagan’s Eye is her photo Blog.  Great images!)  I’m lovin’ this new friend!  She is bright and articulate, humorous and a tad irreverent, and yet so gracious.  I’d really like to encourage her to blog regularly.  She has an unique voice.

And finally, Mark Vallen’s Art for a Change blog.  I just discovered this one, myself.  A working artists political art blog.  I’m lovin’ it!

Happy Blog Amnesty Day and good reading and linking, everyone!

Peace, Out!

Okay. This is a great thing. I remember when I first started and great bloggers like  BlueGal gave me a hand up. I’ve been waaay down since then, but I’m coming back and I remember how to give a hand. Steal this video and check back on Tuesday for your linkylove!
Peace, Out!

Tuesday, February 3 is Blogroll Amnesty Day. Old timers know that this holiday has a rather sullen history, but now it is a happy occasion: On February 3, bloggers are invited to post links to five blogs you like, that have smaller traffic than your own. It’s a great celebration and a time to discover new blogs and link them and stuff. As I said last year, “not to get all mushy here, but do you know how fucking great it is to be here in the blogosphere? Take a moment. Take it in.” Spread some linky love.

Small and newbie bloggers please be aware of the ironclad rule that you are not allowed to make “hey no blog is as small as mine” jokes regarding Blogroll Amnesty Day. The rule is, straight from the queen of the indy blogs herself (ahem), that you are not allowed to complain or mention your blog’s low traffic until you have been posting daily for a year. If you’re little, link other blogs that are

new or still growing their audience, and encourage them to practice their craft daily.

Only The Good Friday #10

otgfthorne7Okay, I got BIG personal GOOD today!  I have a client coming tomorrow.  This is good on so many levels!

Most importantly for my basic existence of course is money!  Thanks to this client I will get the mortgage paid not on time, but before I’m actually 2 months behind.  That is so freaking GOOD!!!

Also good is that when I start stressing about finances and lifestuff, I go into “get-her-done” mode.  I am such a control freak that sometimes the only way I can let go of stuff that I truly have no control over is to get busy on things that I actually can control.  Like my tile.  Like trimming trees and catching up on the winter laundry, raking, yard work, etc.  It’s always good to get things done, but truth be told I get a lil manic, which is not so good for my FMS.  Sometimes I literally wear myself out or hurt myself.  Having a reasonably complex spirit tattoo design to work on gives me a break from the hard physical labor, as will the hours spent in the company of what may well turn out to be a new friend.

More GOOD! When I get too stressed I also get creatively lazy.  Having a tat to work on gets my creative juices flowing which is so good for my head, heart and spirit!

And last, but by no means least, thanks to The Pagan Sphinx I have discovered some incredible bloggers and thanks to the Thursday Thirteen Redux I have rediscovered another.  They are all over on my sidebar, but I want to take a sec to introduce ya’ll.

First I want you all to meet Forks Off The Moment and Manny, her buddy from the block. This lady rawks!  She a no bullshit charmingly irreverent blogger who is witty and has an earthy eloquence that I am so in love with!  Git yer asses over there and check her out!

Over at phantsythat you’ll find awesome silk painting, introspective wonderings and Crow!  I love Crow!

And if you’re up for a good laugh and a bit of intelligent snark, head over to One Old Green Bus.  This guy is always good for a laugh.  They may not have gotten their bus, but the blog lives on and that, my friends, is a good thing!

That’s it for OtGF in Thornesworld.  The poor GirlyBoi came home sick from work, so I’m off to do my nurturing thing.

Peace, out!!

So Shelly‘s idea for this positive posting meme is:

We are living in some pretty negative times, aren’t we? You can’t pick up a newspaper or turn on the television without hearing more bad news about the economy, the war, the stock market, the political candidates. I think that many of us are living in a state of fear (though I’m in the state of Texas).

Fear feeds upon itself
. It’s like a contagious virus. I’m tired of adding to it. I want to start another kind of “virus.”

You see, I think that optimism can be contagious, too. If we consciously try to look at the good in the world around us, it will become easier to see.

Won’t you join us?? Help spread the good love for Only The Good Friday!
