| April 9, 2009 | 11:59 pm

It’s Only the Good Friday!

What’s good in Thorne’s World today?

Well, what isn’t? Haha! Really, a positive outlook can change the way we view things, can’t it?

So we have loads of GREAT GOOD today! First of all, it’s the first day of the 3rd year of the Blog Against Theocracy! If you want to participate, it’s not too late! Just post on any aspect of the separation between church and state and head over to the home site to leave your link. Even if you’re not writing for BAT, check out some of the bloggers who are. There’s some GREAT stuff there!

Your Thorneishness is running a bit behind as usual, so check back later; I’m sure to have something up by then!

What else is GOOD?  Earth Day is coming on April 22!  And it seems that April is now Earth Month, which just rocks! If you head over to BlogHer you’ll find Baby Steps and Big Ideas for going green in 2009! There’s some good stuff over there, too! Woo Hooo! Good stuff in Thornesworld!

It’s time to color eggs! What’s not good about that?! I have to admit it. I LOVE coloring eggs!!! I wish I had time to tell you more about it, but I’ll just have to give you a couple of links, instead. I dye eggs using Pysanky techniques and sometimes designs. This kind of egg decoration has the most wonderful roots in Ukrainian tradition and the designs and symbols all have meaning.

And they are SO freaking BEAUTIFUL!!!

At the Ukrainian Egg you can purchase supplies and even starter kits as well as find lot’s of good info, and at Learn Pysanky Ann has put together a veritable wealth of information on design, technique, sources and history.

That’s OtGF in Thornesworld for today!

Peace, Out!

Join us in posting good stuff on Fridays! let’s all take a break from negativity and spread a lil good!

Time To Blog Against Theocracy, Again
| April 5, 2009 | 8:07 pm

… in Thornesworld and across the bloggy-sphere.
Yeee – freaking – haw!! It’s time for all of we radical – left wing – liberal – tree hugging – commies to raise hell and take names in the name of the Separation of Church and State again!

separation of church and state

Check out Tengrain’s (MPS-link below) ass kicking graphic. OMFSM, I adore him!

Has it really been only 2 years? This is nuts. It has been a hella couple of years; felt like 5. I was looking back through my archives and so blown away to discover that it was only back in 2007 that I participated in the first Blog Against Theocracy

I think it kinda rocks that I just happened to decide to take a break from the mechanics- all this css-code-crap-wordpress-blood-n-guts and go visiting today (I was missing my blogfriends, I just had my head too far up the ass of my code to notice), and there it was, posted at Mock, Paper, Scissors.

I’m sure you all know what I’ll be writing about this weekend, what axe I’ll be grinding on this weekend of thoughts and essays on the subject of the separation of church and h8…errr…state, will be. It’s pretty good timing to write about human rights, equality under law and Prop H8 here in Cali.

So for this coming weekend, we will be interrupting our usual bloggy schedule to bring you Thornie’s thoughts on this topic.

In case you feel like warming up to the topic, here are my 2007 contributions:

A Few of my Favorite BAT ll Posts
| July 6, 2007 | 1:45 am

Well, okay… more than a few. And I’ve barely made it through about 1/4 of them. Um… I should say, them; so far. Their were links going up for days after the last BAT. So here are Thorne’s Picks from today’s reading.

Blog Against Theocracy: What America means to me
“The strongest supporter of Theocracy, around”

Irony is the medium here, and it’s soooo well done!! Bravo!!!

Seething Mom

is at it again, (BAT l post) with an incredible, heartfelt and reasoned post on the ways gays are failed by our theocratic government and religion. This coming from a theist. I know alot of my athiest friends have a problem with moderate theists, but in my opinion, a theist who knows they’ve been screwed by religion and the government that embraces it makes a powerful and vocal ally!! Check her out!!
Rick over at 10% has a great one entitled:

Prosperity Doctrine- The Church Of The Free Market

He opens with this gem:

“If you actually read the bible that Jesus geezer comes off as…well a bit of a lefty, actually a democratic socialist forming an opposition movement in an imperially occupied state. In short he was more Che Guevara than CEO of Halliburton, more insurgent than GI Joe.”

Oh, Talk To Action has a great piece on the

Enemy/Friend

dynamic and how to avoid playing the part that the RR has assigned us.

And if you think for a second that the Rethug party doesn’t have a plan to christianize america, download this: “National Party Platforms on Specific Biblical Issues,” . For a special synopsis stop by

HJHOP

for a treat!

Betmo

is still pissed off, (but eloquent and too the point!) and I don’t blame her a bit.

Thit’s it for the serious stuff for today. Time for Thorne to play…
