Okay, I’m seriously liking this new place I just found. It’s called Greenzer. I don’t know about the rest of you, but with “green” being the “IN” thing this year, it’s actually gotten more instead of less confusing. I’ve been trying to make earth friendly choices forever, based on… well, the best I could do to understand my choices! Nowadays, when you’d think it might be easier, there are so many fake greenies out there it’s daunting. What is the green choice when shopping? “Biodegradable” is a term that doesn’t tell us much, when we really think about it. So “it”, (whatever it may be) “bio” degrades. So what? What are the environmental cost of the item’s degrading process? What kind of toxins and pollutants does it leave behind as it breaks down? “Recyclable” is only good if the means of recycling are reasonably convenient and if the recycling process doesn’t make more of a mess than the garbage! “Recycled” materials can be a misnomer as well, meaning only leftovers from the manufacture of other products…
What is a consumer to do?
Over at Greenzer I found a full line of organic and eco friendly products for my home, office (that would be home office in my case, but you get the idea) and garden and just as importantly (if not more so, if you are as confused by all the green hype and claims as I am), a veritable wealth of information on comparing products and making the green choices best suited to my lifestyle and needs! They even have a Green Blog!
I like it a lot. To me, this is a seriously green endeavor. Check it out.
Peace, out!

Okay, it’s time to let you all in on another of Thornie’s secret vices. Shoes. I know, I know… It’s so mainstream. I’m almost scared to tell ya! I totally admire Jessica the Rock Chick not only for her willingness to be so “out” about her shoe and boot fetish, but also for the shoes!! Have you seen some of the sexy heels she wears?? Back in the days when I was wearing shoes like that we called them “Come blank me pumps”. And she dances in those things- even after back surgery!!
Anyway, back before my health issues I was a high heel wearing fool, but age and geography have conspired to set me firmly into the “comfortable shoes” demographic and it tees me off! I want cute red shoes!!! And I found some! Yay, me! Check these “Patagonias” out: (I even like the name! Hee hee)
Cute, eh? Red and Mary Janes, no less! I love um!! Look, the uppers are made of pigskin (sorry, my PITA friends) and they’re perforated with tiny holes so my hot lil desert tootsies can breathe!! Wait, there’s more. I can order them online from Zappos.com, and get free shipping and 24/7 customer service (Don’t you just hate online shopping when you can’t reach a live body about your order? Grrr… I reeeally love 24 hour customer service, being the night owl that I am!)
They are reasonably eco-friendly with a 15% recycled EVA footbed, and a 20% recycled EVA midsole. Now, I know that’s not perfect, but they’re RED!!!
And I really like companies like Zappos that have goals and core values like:
Stuff like that brings out the flower child in me. Takes me back to my hippy days with People Like Dr. Bronner and his products.
I could wear these, too… well, maybe not; but they’re awfully cute And they’re Holy and RED!!!
Just in case you’re not into the whole Ruby Slippers thang like I am, Zappos Patagonia has a whole line of cute, eco friendly shoes and a bunch of other cool clothing and accessories; check um out!
I deserve a new pair of shoes… don’t I?
Peace, out!
