Stand By Me
| March 25, 2009 | 1:11 pm

Okay, you guys know I’m a big crybaby; right?  I’ve mentioned it a few times in here ‘n there during our journey together.  I weep.  For all that I’m an in-your-face, opinionated, tell-it-like-it-is kinda gal, I’m also re-fucking-diculously sensitive.  I tear up at cute babies, cry over sappy movies, weep at wounded animals and bawl like a baby over world and human rights issues.

Since I’ve been blogging I’ve met a lot of really cool people, and for all I hear about trolls and stalkers and hateful rudeness in comments, and for all that I’ve seen of it elsewhere- I have never (yet) been the target of any of it here in Thorne’s World.  Even back when I was raising hell and taking names on political, feminist and glbt issues.  Even as an “out” lesbian witch liberal.

If anything I have been repeatedly blown away by the very eclectic variety of folks who have stopped by and commented, and who have often become bloggy friends of a sort.  Some of these folks have different politics and different spiritual beliefs, and even on the occasions that we have disagreed it has always been civil.  I used to think that it was a sort of reverse of the usual hiding-behind-your-keyboard syndrome.  That in much the same way that many folks find it easy to be rude and obnoxious in the internet, maybe there are just as many who realize that it’s just as easy to “take what you need or like and leave the rest” when blog visiting.  I do it myself.  If I pop over to x-blogdotcom to find a crochet pattern, do I really care that the blogger posting the pattern also has bible verses in her header and a post entitled “My love letter to Rush”?

Hahahaha.  Well, okay.  So I care, but do I necessarily choose to engage?  Not so much.  I simply leave a polite comment thanking her for the pattern!

So back to my tears.  I think I may have been wrong about that just leave the rest concept.  I really think that there is a lot more to most of us here in bloggy land than we ever show.

I have been choked up since yesterday, upon reading this post over at Shelly’s This Eclectic Life. You should read the post, but what I got from it was that a very cool lady with an incredibly big heart was at war.  Actually her heart was at war with her polite southern upbringing and her professional persona.

This morning I got up to discover that her heart won, when I saw Not Your Momma’s Bingo posted on her blog and I cried a lil more.  While I was reading that fun post (through blurry eyes), I had a video that another friend had emailed me loading in the background and when I was done at Shelly’s, I switched tabs to view and listen to it and it was on- a regular Thorne’s World bawlfest.

Watch the video.  Hear the words.  This post; this video is dedicated to Shelly and to the countless others who fight this war and win.  And even to the countless others who are still struggling with their own inner editors; bless you for fighting the good fight.

Shelly, Thank you for Stand(ing) By Me.
I love you, gal!

Most High and Holy Empress of the Universe (Known and Unknown)
| March 23, 2009 | 11:59 pm

Okay, that’s funny, right? That’s my self assumed title up there, and look what my results for this Which Tarot card are you quiz I found over at Every Day tarot!

You Scored as III – The EmpressThe Empress is a maternal symbol. She is the mother figure who loves, nurtures and protects.
She will protect you, she will always be there when you are in trouble. When you fall over and graze your knee, the Empress will kiss it better.
Yet she is not a weak figure. Her compassion is strength. If her children are threatened she will stop at nothing to protect them. If well aspected in a Tarot spread, the Empress can symbolize security, protection and unconditional love. If badly aspected it can represent over-protectiveness, fear of risk taking and refusal to face the real world.

13 Insane Searches that Brought Folks to Thorne’s World
| March 19, 2009 | 11:11 am

crazy google search terms

So welcome to the ad hoc TT. Thirteen whatevers. Let’s have some fun and get to know each other a bit. Don’t forget to leave your link at the site and leave a comment here. Thorne loves TT-ers!

13 Crazy Search Terms

This is freaking hilarious.  I was going to do 13 Projects in Thornesworld, but by the time I had taken the photos I was exhausted just thinking about them all, and simply could not face writing about them!  Buahahaha! I had thought for some time to do one of these “search term” TT’s and when I took a look at the actual page instead of just the stat summary on my dashboard I was amazed!  I mean, we all know that there are a lot of freaks out there, and it’s not really terribly surprising that some of them would end up at Thorne’s World where they are welcome and in good company.  But some of these?  Yikes!!!

1) Variations on Hilary Swank

Hilary Swank sexy, Hilary Swank boobs/breasts, Hilary Swank bomb.  You know my highest hit post of all time is the one that included Hilary Swank. It was a TT entitled  Lesbian Lust

2) Variations on Tattoo

These are amusing and some of them are thought provoking as well.  Falcon tattoo and perhaps even crazy tattoo make immediate sense, but Lavender tattoo and scripture tattoo and Shel Silverstien tattoo?  Hehe.  I’m sure lavender tattoo is hitting my TT entitled Lovely Lavender. It’s kinda cool to still be getting hits on that, since it was waaay back in May, ’07, and was only my second TT.

3) Suffragette bombs, Suffragette mailboxes

and

4) Pictures of Palestinian women, tank in town, fucking tanks, women stop tanks

Are all connected, I’m sure to my Get Over It rant about the feminist bruhaha over Kathy Sierra and women bloggers being afraid to write.  I wrote a bit about facing real fears in that post.  About the Suffragettes and Rosa Parks and brave Palestinian women.

Here’s where it starts to get really weird:

5) Breast burn

6) Fucking windows

7) horse f**king girl photo (I really don’t care to encourage this one.  I have never written about or posted any image even vaguely similar to this)

8) gay boxers f**king LMFAO

9) f**k you pussy (Okay, I might have said that I do have a t shirt that reads “Get a tattoo you f**king pussy”, but I only wear it at Ink shows and around the house.)

10) Sexy crooked teeth

11) Chrysalids : Which, of course, is the actual title of a novella by John Wymdham published as

    Rebirth

in the US. I wrote about it in one of my first times being tagged. It’s still one of my favorite stories of all time.

12) cecchino dei bracci (can anyone tell me what this means??)

13) thornes sex products  LOL  Who knows?

That’s my TT! Thanks for stopping by! I’m off to visit now!
