Friday is here and things are good in Thorne’s World!
On the financial end, the GirlyBoi is out looking at another small job and in negotiation for a bit more work on a project for a neighbor (loosely speaking, of course- out here neighbors can be 5 miles away!), and it’s starting to look like she may be working at her last job again for awhile sometime in the near future. What’s not good about that? Groceries and paying the mortgage- that’s what I call good!
As for the greater good in Thorne’s World, today I have a bit of yummy small town goodness to report. Our tiny desert town has long been quite bereft of anything for young people, old people… hell; anypeople to do outside of hanging about or going to a bar; neither of which is a good thing, if ya know what I mean. The nearest movie theater is 20 miles away, fer cryin’ out loud!
At noon today the GirlyBoi and I are taking my Mom and heading to the new Clubhouse in town for pizza and a G rated Movie. My Mom is tickled to death, because last week the director told her to come a little early and help pick the movie. The new community clubhouse has a couple of computers for internet access, a billiards table, dartboard and a Wii, and a small lending library (as well as air conditioning), some board games and crafts materials. Attendance is low at this point, since it’s only recently opened, but it’s a County funded operation so it’s all free and I think it will be great for our little town and its denizens!
It’s good for Thornie on a few levels:
- ♥ My mom gets to get out, which really makes me happy!
- ♥ For the GirlyBoi and I, I think it will be nice to have a place nearby, that won’t cost us an arm and a leg for gas, to go shoot some pool or play some Wii and socialize a bit.
- ♥ And I now have somewhere to donate my several boxes of books and boardgames that I decluttered Yay!!!
All of this is for Shelly’s Only the Good Friday Meme. Hop on over and check out the good that others have to share. It’s good stuff!
Peace, out!

Well I hope you enjoyed pizza and a movie…even a g-rated one. Sounds like a wonderful way to spend a hot summer afternoon.
No, Ree doesn’t get excited about that.
I hope you all had a wonderful afternoon!
That sounds like an awesome set-up. You should register those books on Bookcrossing and see how far they travel out of the desert.
I’m really glad that Mom gets to get out and about :)
and it’s great that you’re donating the books
