Summer Shades of Sand

Shelly just told me that Robin over at Around the Island is hosting a brand new photo meme called Summer Stock Sunday. I’m not that hot of a photographer, but every 50 or so photos I get lucky, so I figured I’d jump on in and give myself a good excuse to take more photos! This pic was a fortuitous accident. I was trying to get some cactus images when this little guy stopped by. I didn’t even have time to focus, I just aimed the camera and clicked. I thought I missed him, but I got lucky! I think the shadows look pretty cool, too.

I’m not sure I could have kept that thing on me long enough to take a picture…unless of course, that is some one else’s foot…then I would have asked them to stay very still

I love your 1-in-50 shot, Thorne! The shadows are definitely a great part of the picture, and the size difference between the foot and the lizard is fascinating.
Oh, my! You girlies are so cute! If a baby lizard makes you squirm, I might have to have some Desert Summer fun with you all and go scorpion and snake hunting! Last week I rescued a 4 foot King snake from my pitbull! (But of course, was so busy with the snake and dog I didn’t even think of my camera!) I’m not that great of a photographer, either! I’d probably get better if I’d remember to bring a camera with me! hahaha!!! That is a great picture. I think I might have been screaming instead of thinking of taking a pic. Here in Chicago we don’t have too many creepy crawly things like that! Thank goodness!! Love your shoes! I’m a Mary Jane fan myself ;)

I love lizards!
The shadows look like a brocade. Is it a small horny toad? I used to love picking those up and petting them as a child. When you pet their backs, they flatten…pet the sides, they fluff back up. It’s probably terrifying, because they will typically pee on you by the third ‘fluff’ cycle. I like lizards.
