This luscious Judgment card image is from the Ulani.de website. The site appears to be in German, or one of the Germanic languages, anyway; my “deutsche” ist a bit rusty, don’tcha know.
The Judgment card is the suggested card this week for Tarot Tuesday, and although my Purpose & Creativity Angel Cards are still holding me in good stead, I thought I’d consider for a moment, the meanings of the Judgment card.
In Uncle Al’s Thoth Deck, The Judgment card is replaced by The Aeon, which signifies the emergence of a new energy, an awakening and emergence from the ways of old into a new understanding.
Just as astrologically we have traveled through the aeons of both The Mother or matriarchy and through the aeon or age of Pisces- that of the fish; (the patriarchy as symbolized by western Christian belief systems), we now move into the aeon represented by this tarot trump. The central image on The Aeon card is that of Horus, the child. One may see that the mother and father are both symbolized in the imagery as Osiris sits on his throne, and Nuit arching above as well as the wings which symbolize Isis crossed below Horus.
It ushers in a brand new aeon; the Age of the child.
I love this idea. An age in which we as a species dedicate our best to our children; to the future.
This trump card, card XX of the major arcana, regardless of whether it presents as Judgment or The Aeon, (depending on the deck I’m drawing from) speaks always to me of a time to put away that which is no longer useful and important. A time to relinquish tired traditions and hide-bound ideas and open to something new.
So mote it be!!
Peace, out!

Throne – I am hoping you can help me out. You got me interested in Tarot Card reading – I thought I would try it myself. But I’m stumped. I drew this card. What does it mean?

This was always such a difficult card for me to interpret, especially via the Rider-Waite illustration traditions and the use of the word “Judgment” which is so tied up with “Justice”. I like your interpretation of the Aeon card – I could possibly even learn to appreciate the Thoth deck if I follow you around long enough ;). I’m not up yet at Everyday Tarot, but I will be soon!
I can’t edit my previous comment. Please change “Throne” to “Thorne”. (My apologies).
AND
what does the card at the link below mean? (It is the one I am trying to interpret.)

Thank you

Bwahaha! Steve is so wicked! He absolutely ruined your beautiful card!
It is a lovely one. I enjoy getting to see what you have to say about the cards. I wanna know your answer to Steve!
Steve,
That is an ominous card even in its upright position. I get a strong sense that you have engendered the interest of a witch with a tattoo gun. She thinks of you fondly at this point, but it is always wise tread carefully. (The butt kissing is a great start- keep up the good work and you’ll go far!)

Thorne – I don’t understand. Did you get up on the wrong side of the bed? Maybe you need to look at the card again.

Steve
P.S. I’m getting nervous being on the bad side of a witch with a tattoo gun!
LMAO! Love it, Steve!! Upon further reflection everything is looking 100% “thumbs up” for you, BlogOnSmog and your bloggy relationships!
*wink
that’s a beautiful image for the judgment card!

YES!! Actually, the Judgment card is my personal card; took me a while to get what it is really about. But, I do love what the Thoth deck says about the Judgment/Aeon card and what you have said here!
